Press Release - For Immediate Distribution

Buoyed by increased demand and rapid growth, North Kingstown-based Mill Creek Marine (formerly known as Johnson's Boatyard for over 30 years) is constructing a state of the art sales, service, and dry stack boat storage facility on Allen’s Harbor at Quonset, to be completed this fall. The new facility will house 72 boats (up to 38’ long) at the outset, with plans to increase capacity for 168 boats over the next few years.

The Dry Stack storage system is a more cost-effective, environmentally friendly alternative to the wet slip method used by marinas throughout Rhode Island. Boat owners save about $30/foot annually with this method as boats no longer need bottom and anti corrosion painting, shrink wrapping, and power washing. Dry Stack storage also reduces wear and tear on the boat as it is always stored inside. It also provides a better boating experience as the owners only need to call to schedule a launch. The boat is waiting at the docks ready to go out. At the end of the day, they simply tie up anywhere on the docks and take their belongings. The boat is pulled out of the water, rinsed off and put back in the building. The building itself is fully insulated and built to withstand 110mph winds.

Additionally, Mill Creek will also offer customers a unique flat rate boating program which will include annual maintenance fees in the monthly storage fee, allowing the fixed costs of boating to be spread over the whole year.
